Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, community friends,
Good afternoon! It is my honour to have you here this afternoon to show your support! Also I’d like to express sincere thanks to my team leaders, advisors, and volunteers for their selfless, endless dedication and help! I am a woman and a first generation immigrant. I came from China with only two full suitcases of books and clothing in 1997.  After completion of studies at York University; I earned master degrees in Environmental Studies and Planning.
From 2004, I worked at the City of Toronto. Through my involvement with city wide consultations on the Multicultural Community Research and Outreach, Access and Equity, I have a deep understanding of the issues surrounding diverse communities, the multicultural city and its impact. I’ve served the community in Canada for 17 years. I’ve taken leading roles in organizing and developing many cultural organizations such as the Chinese Professional Women of Canada (CPWC). I have served new immigrants in many ways through special events, opened doors for immigrants of all ages, coordinated with the three levels of government for a mutual communication platform for women and families. Since 2004, I have assisted new Canadians in their transition to mainstream society as the leader of women’s organization. In order to help new immigrants avoiding isolation, stress and depression, we planned and organized different service programs and cultural events, and invited diverse group women to enjoy the multicultural community life.
As an immigrant woman from the grass-roots level, it has been always on my mind: should I go for a political career? Am I ready for the election for the Member of Parliament? After many years of my life in Canada and my understanding of the society system, Canada is my home. I really love Canada! I appreciate the liberal party’s leader, Justin Trudeau’s positions, it’s about saying, equality of opportunity. The door is open to our diverse community women. My friends, colleagues, and diverse communities around me encourage and support me to take the responsibility, and now I’ve determined to run for a Member of Parliament in Scarborough North, the new electoral district, so as to contribute my humble effort to the great country!
As a woman, I want the women in our diverse community to be concerned with the improvement of the status of women, so we need to reach the same agreement and the goal, be independent, help each other and strive for getting our voices heard! As a female candidate for the Scarborough North, I want to be strong a voice not only for women, but also for all families and to represent issues such as environment and economy, youth education and future, and sustainable development that are faced by our diverse communities. Let’s work together to build a better and vibrant community! Once again, thanks all for your support!
