How to grow Caladium in Toronto
Caladium, also called Angel Wings, is a tropical plant grown for its colorful, heart-shaped leaves. It grows best in warm seasons and rests as bulbs in winter.
🌱 Spring (April–May)
Buy new Caladium bulbs from the store, or replant the bulbs saved from last year.
Use well-draining soil (peat moss + perlite). Plant the bulbs shallow, with the sprouts facing up.
Place in a warm spot (above 20°C) with bright, indirect light.
Keep the soil slightly moist, not soggy.

This is the peak growing season, when leaves are the most colorful.
You can place the plant outdoors in partial shade (avoid strong direct sunlight).
Keep the soil evenly moist, and mist if the air is dry.
Feed with diluted liquid fertilizer every 2–3 weeks.

As temperatures drop, leaves will start turning yellow—this means dormancy is coming.
Gradually reduce watering.
Once all leaves die back, dig up the bulbs.

Clean the bulbs and store them in dry peat moss or vermiculite.
Keep them in a dry, ventilated place at 15–20°C (room temperature).
Do not water.
Replant in spring.
